Poland is an up-and-coming mountain biking hotspot; the Eastern European nation is full of off-road enthusiasts, while its trails can rival those of the more established mainstays.
Bielsko-Biała is a case in point. The venue made its WHOOP Mountain Bike World Series debut last year and welcomed the Downhill and Enduro athletes for a weekend of Gravity-fuelled action. It didn’t disappoint, producing some of the season’s closest racing. It’s no surprise then that the venue is making its return for the 2025 season between May 16-18, acting as the season opener for the UCI Downhill World Cup and following hot on the heels of the UCI Enduro World Cup first round in Pietra Ligure – Finale Outdoor Region, Italy.
Where is it?
Bielsko-Biała is in southern Poland, 80km west of the southern city of Krakow. The town is in the Beskid Mountains, which is home to the Enduro Trails network – a bike park that has 15 different trails of varying difficulty.
What’s the course like?
For the professional riders, the trails will skew towards the harder, black-diamond grading. The venue built a completely new downhill track for last year’s UCI Downhill World Cup and sampled some of its trickier trails in the UCI Enduro World Cup.
The 2024 UCI Enduro World Cup witnessed heartbreak as Charlie Murray (Specialized Gravity) denied local favourite Slawomir Lukasik (Yeti/Fox Factory Racing) the win in front of a partisan home crowd, while Isabeau Courdurier (Lapierre Zipp Collective) clinched her first victory of the season.
In the UCI Downhill World Cup, Ronan Dunne (Mondraker Factory Racing) recorded his first UCI World Cup win – the young Irishman showing he has what he takes to compete with the best – while Marine Cabirou (Scott Downhill Factory) made a welcome return to the podium top spot.
